Frequently Asked Questions - Terminology

Hayai's Data plans are limited only by how much data you purchase - we do not place speed limits on this service.
They are available in both pre-paid and post-paid options:

  • For pre-paid data, you purchase any amount of data you choose and it is valid for up to 1 year or until it is used, whichever is first.
  • For post-paid data, you set a billing limit. If you reach this limit, the Internet will become unavailable and you will have to either revise your limit or commit an ad-hoc part-payment to your account.

What is Hayai Zone?

A Gigabyte is 1,073,741,824 (230) bytes. 1,024 Megabytes, or 1,048,576 Kilobytes.

  • 894,784 pages of plaintext (1,200 characters)
  • 4,473 books (200 pages or 240,000 characters)
  • 341 digital pictures (with 3MB average file size)
  • 256 MP3 audio files (with 4MB average file size)
  • About 1.3 700MB CD's
  • About 0.25 DVD's

Flat-Rate is *like* unlimited, but we think of it more like "flat-rate" (as in price), rather than "unlimited" (as in usage).

In order to try and mitigate abuse, Hayai has attached Fair Usage Policies to it's flat-rate plans which we think are quite fair - both to you, and to us. The best way to work out the FUP on a residential plan is to take the total price (including tax) and divide by 10.
